Salsa Label

My friend asked me to make a label for his mom's homemade salsa! Something with an ornate frame with chile plants around it. Here's what I came up with!

 

I also made a single-color black version for ease of printing.

Pokemon Fusion Doodles

I started making some Pokemon fusion doodles earlier this week! I think I'll start doing these periodically just so I can post more often.

Aesthesys - Ascendere

I had the opportunity to design Moscow-based post-rock instrumental outfit Aesthesys' EP album, Ascendere! The project consisted of a front/back wrapping panorama, an interior spread, CD cover, and booklet design (I'll show off more of the work I did closer to the album's release). Was a fun project to work on!

Log Slices

My friends Kirsten and Garrett got married over the weekend! They asked a couple of friends and I to create some decorations to display at their wedding celebration. We were each given a log slice and a list of topics to start us off, but we were pretty much free to do as we pleased. I drew a succulent that turned out looking more like a lotus! I used a generous amount of sanding and gesso to try to get rid of the deep cuts in the wood surface, but in the end I really liked all of the gouges. The final art was done using an ink brush pen and ink pens.

I also worked on some coaster-sized log slices as well! These were originally supplied as test pieces to prepare for the larger log slice. The taco heart was done with acrylic and ink, while the succulent was done with an ink brush pen.

Every year I draw my mom three doodles of flowers, and I drew one of those flower doodles today. Happy Mother's Day!

Wilderness

Here's a little something I did for a small group show that was put together by my buddy Jeromy Velasco! The show consisted of a handful of friends and classmates from my university. I had this piece and a bunch of other similar ideas sketched out in my sketchbook over two years ago. I need to start drawing in that little book again. I also referenced a lot from my new year piece!
